Our festival is more than just film screenings, educational lectures and a competition program. Our festival is about the dream of our Dreamer —  to unite like-minded people around the idea of a Clean Country and to inspire the creation of video content on environmental topics through the prism of our own positive example.

A dreamer and professional inventor, beloved husband and father of two sons, photographer and videographer, tourism specialist, volunteer and public figure, co-founder of the POVNA BANKA brand and the CHYSTO eco-initiative. DE?!, soldier of the 128th Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war, Hero of Ukraine.

In October 2020, Roman brought his wife Olena to the Transcarpathian Sea. Since then, due to their dedication, the transformation of a huge landfill into a special nature reserve began: “The Transcarpatian Sea Shore” Landscape Reserve became a place of silence, peace, and renewal. 

Roman believed in the powerful positive example of change in the Tereblya Valley for all of Ukraine and dreamed of making this place in the mountains a center for environmental education.

It is certainly not easy to unite us Ukrainians through language or a single religion, and it is even more difficult to choose a single vector of movement and development. There may be a vacancy for a national idea —  clean environment, protected nature — something very basic, but nevertheless, I think this is definitely the idea worth uniting around.

Don’t remember our names, we want you to remember or be inspired by our idea: “Clean up the Carpathians, as if they were your own backyard!”

Let’s create a successful case study together in this environment, let it be a fire starter for other regions and let this movement move forward…

Roman Zhuk

In the early days of the full-scale invasion, Roman stood up to defend our country. He served in the reconnaissance unit of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. He believed in a better future for his country and did everything he could to achieve it. On May 26, Roman was killed by enemy fire near the town of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region. The projects started by Roman are being continued by his wife Olena together with the eco-family CHYSTO.DE?!

Roman managed to unite thousands of people thanks to his openness, sincerity and desire to act. He knew how to change himself, his country and his region for the better. He was born when the sky was lit up with special stars, which is probably why he knew how to ignite hearts.
